Department of Pharmaceutics is adept in identifying the current trends of drug delivery research & ingeniously addresses the needs of pharmaceutical industry.

Currently the portfolio of work which is carried out at Departments includes

  • Preformulation studies of various drugs including Drug-Excipient compatibility studies.
  • Molecular complexes to improve solubility of poorly soluble drugs or for Taste masking of bitter drugs.
  • Lipid-based drug delivery systems for oral bioavailability enhancement.
  • Novel drug delivery systems (NDDS) that includes the development of Controlled Re-lease Drug delivery system (CRDDS)
  • Nasal to brain drug delivery system.
  • Nanotechnology & Nanomaterial based drug delivery systems.
  • Para IV non-infringing formulation development.
  • Stability studies.

Department of Pharmaceutics is equipped with state-of-art facilities to carry out these activities including rotary compression machine, high shear mixer granulator, fluidized bed granulator cum coater, multimill, bilayer compression machine, single station compression machine, lab scale coater, and others. Similarly for nanotechnology based product the department has facilities of high speed and high pressure homogenizer, Malvern Zetasizer etc. In Pharmaceutics lab we have developed various controlled and sustained release delivery systems which were successfully transferred to industry for scale up. At department of pharmaceutics, we strongly encourage interdisciplinary projects for delivery of therapeutics derived from biotechnology & natural product origin.
