Cell and Molecular Biology
Department offers dissertation/short term training in Molecular biology, Cell biology, Immunology and Bioinformatics.
Techniques: Cloning, PCR, Protein expression, Protein characterisation, Protein purification, Mammalian Cell culture, ELISA, Epitope identification and mapping, Cell based reporter assays, Cell-based assays, Cell death analysis, Biochemical assays, Enzyme assays for free radical biology.
Training Period: 1 -12 months depending upon the project
Department offers dissertation/short term training in,
Literature search and importance of it in setting up a reaction; Precautions and preventive measures to be taken while handling hazardous chemicals; Significance of the symbols written on the chemicals; Different solvents used and method of drying solvents followed by distillation; Use of Rotaevaporator for distillation; Demonstration of vacuum distillation; Setting up of reaction for synthesis of small heterocyclic molecules and their intermediates; Preparation of handmade glass TLC plates; Monitoring of the reaction by TLC; Work up of the reaction; Purification by different methods; Re-crystallization, Column chromatography; Determination of melting point.
Training period: About 5-6 weeks
Dissertation depends upon the student's CV and the discretion of the faculty. It may usually synthesis of some series of molecules without infringing the existing research or project work.
Department offers dissertation/short term training in:
Nanoformulations- This will cover formulation development (Viz., SEEDS/SMEDDS, Microspheres, Solid Lipid Nanoparticle, Nanostructred Lipid Carriers etc) using High pressure homogenizer, High speed homogenizer, Probe sonicator and its evaluation for particle size, Zeta potential using Laser diffraction (DLS) technique and in-vitro and ex-vivo release study
Topical/transdermal formulations- This will include formulation development using Mathis lab coater and drug release and permeation evaluation, in-vitro and ex-vivo, using Franz diffusion assembly. Soilds-Oral tablet/capsule/pellets formulation development and its complete evaluation (viz., IP/QC parameters, DT, Dissolution characterization)
Semisolids: Fabrication of creams, ointments, hydrogels and their complete evaluation (viscosity, soild content, pH, stability etc)
Particle engineering: Drug solubility improvement, polymorphism, physico-mechanical properties of drugs and polymers using spray drying, ultrasonication, co-crystallization techniques.
Various software training can also be chosen as a part of training program. This includes QbD approach, Design Expert, IVIVC software (using Kinetica software), calculation of dissolution studies and model fitting, statistics, ANOVA etc

Department offers dissertation/short term training in Techniques: Animal handling; Animal model development; Efficacy Studies for herbal/synthetic and biotech drugs; Toxicological Studies; Animal Phamacokinetic studies
Training Period: 3-6 months
Department offers dissertation/short term training in two areas of Plant Sciences -
Phytochemistry: Physicochemical standardization, TLC fingerprinting, marker compound estimation Techniques - HPTLC, HPLC
Biotechnology: Tissue culture, Genetic engineering, Molecular biology, Molecular markers and DNA barcoding.
Techniques - Micropropagation, Shoot/Root/Callus/Suspension/Hairy root culture, PCR, Gel electrophoesis, AFLP, RAPD
Training Period: 1 -12 months depending upon project
